Steven, son of Larry and Ann Speaks, has been with the company full-time since 1987. He graduated from Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He has served as survey party chief, CAD operator, engineer in training, and now a licensed professional engineer and certified land surveyor. He is now president of the company his father began in 1976. Steven is licensed to practice engineering in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. He has 30 years of design, land surveying, and construction experience. He has experience in all types of land surveying including boundary, topographic, ALTA and elevation surveys. He has experience in design of subdivisions, roadways, site development, water systems, wastewater treatment, collection and disposal as well as individual on-site sewer systems. He works with local municipalities and planning commissions as well as Federal agencies such as FEMA, FERC and the Corps of Engineers for development approvals. He also is experienced in working with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). Steven is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Alabama where he has served as President and Fellow. Steven also has experience as an expert witness regarding engineering and land surveying disputes in local court cases.
